TOMATO DOSA / THAKKALI DOSAI

thakkali dosai

Here is a simple yet flavorful, tasty & easy to make tomato dosa recipe. The best part is it doesn't need any fermentation. This can be made immediately after grinding the batter. I am sure everyone will love its tangy taste. Here you go for the easy dosa recipe.

Ingredients :

Raw Rice - 1 Cup
Sour Tomato - 2 Big Size
Red chilies - 4 or 5 ( According to the Spiciness )
Grated Coconut - 1/4 Cup
Cumin Seeds - 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon
Asafoetida - 1/2 Teaspoon

To Temper :

Mustard Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
Coriander Leaves ( Chopped ) - 2 Table Spoon
Curry Leaves - Few.

Method :

Soak raw rice for 3 hours. Then grind it to a smooth paste in a blender, along with tomatoes, Cumin seeds, grated coconut. Then add water to it and make a thin batter ( Like Rava / Suji Dosa ). Temper it with mustard seeds, add the chopped coriander leaves, salt and curry leaves and mix well. No need for fermentation, can be prepared immediately.

Heat a flat tawa/ griddle/pan, take a laddle of batter, and pour it on the corners in circles (to form a outer circle) and then fill in the centre. Do not over lay. (As dosa will become thick if you pour the batter over and over again). Don't worry if you don't get the round shape.

Drizzle little oil, and cook until it turns golden brown in the base, no need to flip, just fold it and transfer to the serving plate. Yummy and crispy thakkali dosai is ready to be served with coconut chutney or mint chutney.

Notes :

Make sure to mix the batter well each time you make dosa.
You will get crispy dosa only when the batter is thin
You can add thinly sliced onion in the tawa and then pour the batter too.
