Moong Dal Recipe

Here is a easy to make yet a very healthy rice variety for you all to try. This can be made in no time, just an achar as an accompaniment will do. Though the main ingredients are similar to Pongal / Kichidi, this tastes really different. I learnt this recipe from my MIL. Here you go for the recipe.....

Moong dal - 1/4 Cup
Coconut Gratings - 2 Table Spoon
Water - 2 Cups
Salt - As needed.

To Temper :

Oil - 2 Teaspoon
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Urad dal - 1/2 Teaspoon
Dry red chilies - 3 to 4 No.s
Curry Leaves - Few
Hing / Asafoetida - 1/8 Teaspoon

Method :

Heat a pan and dry roast rice and dal together until nice aroma comes ( Make sure to keep in medium flame )

Heat the pressure cooker , add oil, and keep adding the ingredients given under to temper list. Now add roasted rice & dal, water, coconut gratings, enough salt and cook for 3 whistles.
Tasty & Healthy moong dal rice is ready to be served with pickle of your choice. We call this Usiliyal, some call it Arusi Sundal.
