Here is a recipe which is mildly spiced and good for health. Dal / lentil is rich in protein.
So here goes my version of paruppu sadam aka dal bhat ......
Ingredients :
Rice - 1 Cup
Yellow pigeon peas/Thoor Dal/Thuvaram paruppu - 1/2 Cup
Garlic - 10 cloves
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Green Chilies - 3 Nos.
Ghee - 1 & 1/2 Table Spoon
Curry Leaves - Few Leaves
Coriander Leaves (chopped) - 2 Table Spoon
Coriander Leaves (chopped) - 2 Table Spoon
Salt - As per taste.
Method :
Wash rice and dal together 2 or 3 times and keep aside. Take a pressure pan add washed rice and dal, Crushed garlic, cumin seeds, slited green chilies, turmeric powder, salt, enough water and cook for 3 whistles, and simmer the flame, now add ghee and curry leaves, coriander leaves and mix well. Serve hot with pappad or spicy pepper potato fry.
